Tutorials CFP

Model-driven systems development has long been used in the engineering of complex hardware systems. It is becoming more prevalent in complex software or combined hardware and software systems development as methodologies and tools become available that can manipulate software models from very abstract concepts through refinement and testing. Although the UML has played a large role in software modeling in both academia and industry, other languages and systems are also used for model-driven systems development. Examples of topic areas for tutorial proposals are contained in the following non-exhaustive (i.e., not intended to be exclusive) list:

  • applying modeling effectively in software development

  • modeling techniques for specific domains, such as real-time embedded systems

  • advances in the practical use of model-driven development techniques

  • modeling and requirements engineering

  • tools and approaches for model transformation

  • topics related to domain-specific modeling

  • tools to support modeling and model-driven development

  • modeling for re-engineering and legacy evolution

  • topics intersecting modeling with testing concerns

Proposals must be submitted electronically via e-mail, as plain text or in PDF. The tutorial submission should be contained within five pages (excluding any materials submitted under item 12 listed in the suggested template). Various parts of the proposal for accepted tutorials may be edited for incorporation in the Advance Program.

When preparing a tutorial submission, please consider the suggested template (available here). Proposals should be sent to tutorials07[at]modelsconference.org before the May 1, 2007 deadline. A confirmation email will be sent to verify that the proposal was received.

Financial Terms
Tutorial presenters will receive an honorarium depending on the number of attendees. The precise amount of the honorarium will be determined immediately after the early registration deadline.

Tutorials that have less than 8 early registrants will face the risk of cancellation.

Tutorial Selection Committee
The proposals received will be reviewed by the Selection Committee to ensure a high quality and appropriate mix for the conference. The goal of the Selection Committee is to provide a diverse set of tutorials that attract a large interest among the broad segments within the diverse MoDELS community. Members of the Selection Committee are as follows:

  • Jean Bezivin, INRIA and University of Nantes, France
  • Jeff Gray, University of Alabama at Birmingham, USA (chair)

  • Ivan Kurtev, Twente University, Netherlands

  • Alfonso Pierantonio, University of L'Aquila, Italy

  • Gianna Reggio, Universita' di Genova, Italy

  • Antonio Vallecillo, University of Malaga, Spain
